Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts (BOPA) has extended the deadline for Free Fall Baltimore 2024 grant applications for one more week, and they are now due on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
The Free Fall Baltimore grant provides funding to Baltimore City-based organizations and local venues and event spaces with smaller operating budgets (under $300,000). This enables them to produce free cultural events in Baltimore City during the month of October, hence the name “Free Fall.”
The grant is also available to individual artists and creatives if their event is free and open to the public and located in a public space or Baltimore City-based venue.
The grant amount awarded is $1,000 for all grantees. To be eligible, in addition to being free and in a public space, the applicant’s program must provide outreach and access to young adults, families, and/or under-served audiences. Additionally, the event must be accessible to those with physical hardship and/or mobility issues, such as those who use wheelchairs, walkers, and canes.
Free Fall Baltimore is held in conjunction with National Arts and Humanities month during which local venues, artists, and organizations spotlight the importance of the arts and vibrance of our local Baltimore arts community. During National Arts and Humanities Month there are free concerts, dance and theater performances, festivals, lectures, workshops, exhibits, and more.
Grantees will be notified the week of August 5, 2024, according to the BOPA website. They will receive funding by the week of September 2, 2024. This grant is made possible by funding from The Maryland State Arts Council.
