Buying concert tickets in 2024 comes with the convenience of doing it all with the click of a few buttons. But do you ever miss the days of finding camaraderie with fellow fans while waiting in line to get your hands on tickets to see your favorite band?
Well, HFStival is kickin’ it old school with a return to in-person ticket sales for a limited number of upper deck tickets.
HFStival will take place Sept. 21 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. It will pay tribute to the progressive rock music that was played on the WHFS radio station, which was popular in the Baltimore and D.C. markets.
Music-lovers and fans of the station can buy tickets in person for one day only, starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, at the 9:30 Club box office in Washington, D.C.
“With so many people on socials reminiscing about buying tickets the old school way, we thought, why not make some seats available so people can come to the 9:30 Club box office to score $99.10 tickets on Saturday?” said Seth Hurwitz, owner of I.M.P., the 9:30 Club, The Anthem, and The Atlantis and operator of Merriweather Post Pavilion and Lincoln Theatre.
The upper deck tickets are priced at $99.10 – a nod to the 99.1 FM frequency for the WHFS station back in the day. There are no additional service fees at I.M.P. box offices; only credit cards are accepted.
Anyone who buys a ticket at the box office Saturday will receive a commemorative HFStival 2024 poster. Capitol Snow will also be providing free snowballs to help fans beat the heat.
The remaining tickets for the lower levels will go on sale at Ticketmaster.com at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Fans were also able to enter a lottery on June 16 for the chance to buy tickets. Anyone selected for those lottery-based tickets will be notified no later than Friday afternoon.
HFStival will feature performances by The Postal Service, Death Cab For Cutie, Incubus, Bush, Garbage, Jimmy Eat World, Girl Talk, Violent Femmes, Tonic, Filter, and Lit.
