Everyman Theatre will host a cabaret series centered on Broadway musical legends as part of its new summer music series.

Titled “Baltimore, Broadway, and Beyond” it will feature the award winning and lead performer, Felicia Curry, and special weekly guests. The series’ set list will also honor soul singer Nina Simone, jazz musician Ethel Ennis, and composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim.

“It’s not just a performance. It’s an experience that will resonate with the heart and stir the spirit,” Curry said in a statement.

The series will explore storytelling, music and culture that weave together the stories of Charm City in classic Broadway cabaret style. Everyman’s theater will also be transformed into a nightclub room with cocktail tables, ambient lighting and a bar to set the scene.

Curry will dazzle the audience with her expert musical range and joyful storytelling, said Noah Himmelstein, associate artistic director of the series. Curry starred as Celie in “The Color Purple,” Nina Simone in “Nina Simone: Four Women,” and in “Queen’s Girl: Black in the Green Mountains.”

The series will run from July 10-28 on Wednesday through Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m.
