The 14-year-old who brought a pellet gun to Loch Raven High School yesterday, leading to a lockdown as Baltimore County police tactical units and officers searched the building, has been charged as a juvenile with disturbing activities at school and having dangerous weapons on school property.
Police are withholding the boy’s name.
About 11:47 a.m. yesterday, police were called to the school after the boy fled from a student resource officer who approached the teen about a gun in his backpack. Another student had told the student resource officer about the weapon.
After the boy ran away from the student resource officer, the lockdown procedure was initiated. Police eventually detained the boy and found a pellet gun. The lockdown ended about 12:30 p.m.
The incident came one day after a white supremacist-affiliated teenager killed 17 students at a high school in Parkland, Fla.
In an unrelated incident, a student at Pimlico Elementary/Middle School was taken away by Baltimore City Public Schools police after they were found with a BB gun.
